Cat Matlock has been a licensed massage therapist and bodyworker since 1993, dedicating her practice to the understanding and relieving of the tensional systems which create chronic pain in our bodies. After 25 years and thousands of hours of study and practice, she believes the key to effectively releasing these tensional patterns is in combining simple fascial connective tissue opening with the compressive release of trigger points. Cat believes that it is important to work at the edge of discomfort, sinking into the body, not plowing into tight and constricted areas causing the tissue to reflexively react to protect itself. You can read reviews of Cat’s work here
Cat Matlock has taught anatomy, kinesiology, trigger point therapy, yoga, and integrative massage since 2000. She is regularly reviewed as one of the most highly respected instructors of these courses, bringing a deep understanding and respect for the human form into her teachings. Cat has received standing ovations from students after anatomy classes, no small task!
She began studying trigger point therapy in the mid-90s, complementing the specific work with studying broader fascial release techniques. In her own practice, Cat has found that just lengthening fascia (connective tissue) or just releasing trigger points is not quite enough to alleviate the tensional patterns. But put the two types of work together and you can be pain free! Cat has helped thousands of clients in the last 20 years to rid themselves of chronic headaches and migraines, back pain, restless leg syndrome, frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries, bursitis, calf pain, knee pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, numbness in hands and arms, all forms of tendinitis, arthritis, and much more. Cat’s work is sensitive, deliberate, knowledge based, and highly effective. A signature of her work is the instruction her clients receive in self care using trigger point therapy balls for releasing their own trigger points and fascia at home.
Cat (Cathy) Matlock is approved by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCMTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider.
