Cat Matlock has been a licensed massage therapist and bodyworker since 1993. She has spent her entire career studying how to relieve pain in others and how to teach people to relieve their own pain through the use of therapy balls, foam rollers, and yoga for strengthening and flexibility. Her approach is unique in that it weaves her knowledge of trigger points into the rolling practices.

Self Care for Headaches and Migraines
This series is for massage therapists and anyone who wishes to understand the muscular trigger points which cause headaches and migraines and how to release them on one’s own body. We will employ simple self trigger point release and self massage techniques with targeted stretching and strengthening. You will leave this class empowered with a much better understanding of the muscular causes of headaches and how to address them. Simple breathing practices to soften tension in the nervous system will be taught as well.

Freebody Therapeutics for the Hips and Low Back
This series is available to massage therapist and anyone looking to find pain relief in the areas of the hips and low back. In this class, we will explore the dynamic relationships of the hip adductor muscles in the inner thighs and the hip abductor muscles of the outer hips, gluteus minimus and medius, as well as the iliopsoas and the quadratus lumborum. Cat will then demonstrate the trigger point release work for these groups.

Join Cat Matlock every Tuesday from 7:15-8:30 at West Asheville Yoga as she shares her deep anatomy knowledge and understanding of unwinding chronic pain and tensional patterns in the body, breathing practices to stabilize and increase prana energy, and meditation/mindfulness practices for healing the brain. Cat is now adding to every class breathing practices and meditation/mindfulness practices to more wholly address the imbalances that human life brings.
